Welcome to the Utah Islamic Center (UIC), a vibrant beacon of faith, community, and compassion in the heart of Utah. Founded in 2007, UIC was established with a simple yet profound mission: to serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the growing Muslim community in our beautiful state. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a welcoming home for thousands, fostering an environment where peace, knowledge, and harmony flourish through the timeless teachings of the Quran and the traditions of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).
For the first 13 years, our dedicated community gathered in a rented commercial space in Sandy, where we built lasting bonds and shared the light of Islam with neighbors near and far. This period of resilience and outreach laid the foundation for our next chapter. In 2014, we acquired land in West Jordan at 984 W. 9000 S, igniting a vision for a permanent sanctuary. Construction began in March of 2019, culminating in the completion of Utah’s largest mosque—a stunning architectural marvel designed to inspire awe and unity. Today, our expansive facility stands as a testament to collective faith and perseverance, accommodating daily prayers, Friday sermons, and gatherings for all five prayer times with grace and accessibility.
As the largest Islamic community center in Utah, UIC is more than a place of worship—it’s a hub of empowerment and connection. We offer a diverse array of dedicated programs tailored to enrich lives at every stage:
Meet the Muslims: Our signature outreach series invites the wider community to join us for open dialogues, tours, and shared meals, breaking down barriers and celebrating our shared humanity. These events, held regularly at our West Jordan location, create bridges of understanding and curiosity.
Muslim Revert Services: Comprehensive support for those embracing Islam, including personalized guidance, educational resources, and integration into our family.
Family Night Programs: Joyful evenings filled with interactive activities, storytelling, and faith-based fun to strengthen family ties and create cherished memories.
Educational Initiatives: From Sunday School and Evening Quran Classes to Summer Camp, Arabic Language classes, and Newcomer Education, we nurture young minds and lifelong learners with classes that blend Islamic principles with modern knowledge. Our offerings also include engaging youth programs like Jiu Jitsu classes for physical and mental discipline.
Women’s Spiritual Programs: Including Sister’s Zikr Halaqa sessions, providing a nurturing space for reflection, remembrance, and sisterhood.
Community Services: Including Nikah (marriage) ceremonies, financial assistance, burial support, and seasonal outreach like free backpack giveaways for children, ensuring no one walks alone.
At UIC, we are committed to civic engagement, interfaith collaboration, and charitable endeavors that uplift everyone in our diverse society. Whether you’re a lifelong member, a curious visitor, or someone seeking solace, our doors are open. Join us in building a brighter, more compassionate Utah—one prayer, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time.
